Hunter Sugar Barber

One of my good friends (and old modeling agent) Aimee Sugar-Barber just had her third baby. You may have remembered her Mamma’s maternity session a few weeks back, see that post HERE. Hunter Sugar Barber was born November 10th at 3 AM. I had planned on shooting the birth but I guess the whole experience was so crazy that there was no time. She had her all natural! (High five from a member of the I prefer drugs club). I am just happy that I was able to get over there and capture her sweet little face. Hunter had no interest in “naked baby, holding my head up while resting on my hands” pictures. Probably better because I really don’t like to make babies unhappy. The photographers that are good at that must be baby-whisperers or magicians. She was happy being wrapped up like a burrito. You will have to trust me that she has cute feet…

Oscar the Grouch and Nostalgia

When I was little I would go to my Nannas and there was a box of toys to play with. Same box, never really changed but it was mine. I would play and play until I was too old for some of the toys in it. There was this Oscar the Grouch can that if you stepped on the little pumper, Oscar would come out. I always thought that Oscar had a sense of humor. He made me laugh.

I still have Oscar and my son Logan loves to play with him. There is something so nostalgic and cool about my children playing with the same toys I once did. Oh and Oscar…he still has a sense of humor.

My son recently turned 10 months and with his little brother only a few weeks away from arrival, I took today to just follow Logan around and capture a little bit of his day. With a baby his age, the action never stops. It’s quite an amazing thing watching a baby discover his world. Never bored and never in short supply of trouble he can get into. We lose a lot of time in our house just watching this little guy. I know I am biased but he’s pretty cute.

We started the day with a little breakfast…or the “crime scene” as Daddy called it.

Then while clothing is generally a challange, I managed to get him in my favorite shirt of his if only for a minute, or a picture. The bottle was a negotiation though.

After 20 shots or so, I did have a winner though. I call this “one for grams” photo. Look at those pearly whites!

and then he was off…and so was his shirt.

After some walking practice, he located his favorite toy to decorate the floor with. Logan thinks blocks are not only fun, but a major food group.

To all the Mammas out there loosing time in there day just marveling in their little ones, celebrate and hold on because it goes so very fast.

Go hug your babies.

So often when I am at a session people will say “I bet you have the most amazing pictures of your kids.” Sadly, not always. I go in spurts. I shoot one kid for awhile and then get fixated on documenting another. Being that Logan is ever changing, he is the focus currently. Although I am quite over due to capture the big kids. Note to self…

Tonight during a routine bathtime I saw some extra cuteness calling my name. I started singing “Rubber Ducky you’re the one…quack, quack” and Logan thought THAT was very funny. I told Madi to watch him and ran down to grab my camera. Thank goodness I had room on a card. I am pretty sure all 9 memory cards are full right now. I had just enough space to shoot these few shots.

Here is the smallest Balmes and his Rubber Ducky. Feel free to soak up the adorable.

Let him eat cake.

My very dear friend Pam (who also happens to be the awesome photographer Pamela Nicole) asked me to come by and capture her with her son. A problem many photographer parents…and Mom’s in general have is that they are never IN the picture with their babies. I know that most days that is the case for me. So while I am no Pam, I was very happy to give her a break from photographer Pam and let her be New Mom Pam. Here are some shots from their playtime today.

I know I am rocking on my blog posts…(meaning I am actually doing them, pat self on back..) . I had a family session recently with one of my bestest friends. She has a little baby named Jude and I have been capturing his whole first year. It’s been pretty fun to tell you the truth. I managed to convince them to finally do a family photo. I am pretty sure this was a first. Anyhow we shot a little mini session at the park near their house. This kid is a ham. I just love these, they make me smile. Amy, Jim and Jude.

The House of Jones Girls – Arizona family photographer

Okay so I know that I showed off these beauties a few months ago but I went back to catch little Natilee’s 6 month pictures. This is the house of Jones girls. 4 girls and my good friend Cindy is the ring leading Mamma behind it all. She’s a saint, or at least has the patience of one. I just adore these girls and all of the silliness that goes on in this house. I wanted to show some images from my recent pop over session a few weeks ago. You can’t help but love everyone of these beautiful girls (by the way with 4 totally different personalities.

Here is Baby Natilee, probably one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen…seriously.

Next Jones sister is the (born to be a traveling gypsy actress type) Jillian. She makes me laugh…a lot. Although here she just looks like a melt-your-heart-baby-girl.

This is what who I always refer to as “my favorite”. I love them all, it’s now just become a joke that Ellyce is my favorite.

Last but not least the oldest Jones, “the original” Aslynn. She’s a ham and I love her.

While I have plenty of brides and models to go around, it’s coming up on “baby season.” That is when I have so many expected little ones on their way! Today is little Olivia. She was probably one of the best babies I have shot. So calm and really trusting with me. Her Momma allowed me time to get everything I needed and Olivia slept in and out for two hours. It was wonderful. Then at the end she opened her little eyes so I could get a peak. Honestly a perfect session . I used to obsess about shooting newborns like everyone else. I see all of these wonderful and creative shots that are art worthy. Frustrating shoot after frustrating shoot I finally have just succumb to shooting what I see, to hopefully seeing what their mothers see. I shot all of these just sitting on her mother’s bed and it was wonderful.

Okay so I have a backlog of models and a bride to share…but you have to see little Max. I went to high school with his Momma and she found me through, where else…Facebook. We had been talking about her session for months. He is just barely 10 days old and such a sweet little guy. I know that I have a baby in a hat picture already this month, but does it really get old? These little hats are so dang cute. (Thank you Jackie).
