Justine Class of 2012
Posted on November 8, 2011
If you know my work at all you have seen this pretty girl in some of my published pieces, at her sweet sixteen photo booth, every year for family pictures and now her senior shoot. Justine is a professional model and for good reason, she’s P-U-R-T-Y. However I told her going into today that I did not want modeling, I wanted real and I wanted “her.” Well that of course made her laugh and we spent the entire shoot making fun of modeling and trying not to “pose” but at the end of the day I was really happy with her session. It’s easy to take a great picture of a pretty girl. I hope that I went one step beyond and captured the Justine that is funny, sarcastic, complicated and well…beautiful. Justine I hope this makes up for that stupid math test.

Sometimes it’s just finding common ground

Recently I had a senior session, well two at once. Twin boys and as I pulled out of the house it was raining. Awesome. Neither of these boys really allow themselves to be caught in front of the camera. In fact their Mom uses baby pictures on Facebook. I always joke that they need better pictures, you know as in taken in the last 18 years…better pictures. Two years I have been trying to get my camera on these boys.
I faced what a lot of photographers face, photographing someone that does not want to be photographed. They may on some level want to but once you actually point that big lense at them they can’t even keep their eyes facing forward.
I joke, I play, I give them a hard time…I try to break the pressure. I feel them out and see where that line is of comfort. I couldn’t crack this one. His brother was pretty normal 18 year old “if I have to” kind of smile and session but the other was tougher. Mom suggested we do a shoot in front of McDonalds., apparently the happiest place on Earth for him. After we wrapped up all the “formal” photos we headed to a nearby McD’s. Mom rolled out with a Happy Meal and suddenly he lit up. 18 and excited about a Happy Meal. Pretty endearing. He had not requested a single shot all day, except for the one below. Something he feels represents him. I could have taken the most amazing pictures in the world, but if my clients don’t walk away feeling like that had a good time and it went well, they will never find any they like. So this one shot may have saved the entire day. “Bah-da-bah-bah-baaah. I’m Lovin’ it.”

Senior season in full swing

I have been shooting all the lovely seniors in town. Last week I traveled to Florence, Arizona to shoot Kelci. Such a doll and you have to love the small town beauties. She loves horses and making her own jewlery. We had a really fun time and I was excited to get the images up. If you have not visited my photography Facebook page with my seniors and other goodies, you can find that here. BRIDGETTE MARIE FACEBOOK
Now for the lovely Kelci….
